The Enlightenment or Age of Reason, was to see the full flowering of this-earthly observation and thinking started in the Renaissance. France’s thinkers were central to the Enlightenment, key to the explosion of scientific development from the discoveries of LaPlace, Lavoisier, Condorcet, Laënnec, Cuvier, and Lamarck. It also led to the cataclysmic French Revolution, seeded by the writings of Rousseau, and influenced by Montesquieu and Locke.

Enjoy the stunning island town of Mont St. Michel in Normandy, as well as the charming town of Honfleur. And we will visit Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery in Normandy while we’re there.
