About Jay Friedenberg

Jay Friedenberg is Professor of Psychology at Manhattan College. His academic interests include cognitive science, artificial intelligence and visual perception. 

Friedenberg co-authored, with Gordon Silverman, the best-selling Cognitive Science: An Introduction to the Study of Mind. He has also written books on artificial intelligence and on topics in dynamical systems and complexity theory.

His books include Visual Attention and ConsciousnessDynamical Psychology:  Complexity, Self-Organization and the Mind; and Artificial Psychology:  The Quest for What it Means to be Human. Friedenberg has also penned numerous articles on visual perception.

Dr. Friedenberg is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, The Psychonomic Society, Phi Beta Kappa, and Sigma Xi.

His personal interests include aphorisms, haiku, and landscape art.
